THE TWIN COMBINATIONS OF THE MEDIEVAL SLAVIC TEXTS

Valentina Petrova
Summary
The twin combinations which are peculiar to every poetical language is
an important feature of the medieval Slavic texts. Biblical texts is an essential
source of the twin combinations used in Old Slavic literature. Climent of Ohrid
had a substantial influence upon the formation and development of the medieval
Slavic literature in Slavia Orthodoxa area. His creative work is an early phase of
mastering of the poetical means going back to biblical traditions. Those poetical
means include twin and triple combinations peculiar to Old Testement texts
mainly. Clement of Ohrids didactic and panegyrical works became a pattern of
those combinations use in an original Slavic text for Slavic writers.
