Collaborative Learning: Students should feel comfortable in their classroom environment and with their peers. My goal is to create this ideal environment by teaching in a way that students are not only receiving constant feedback from their teacher, but also from their peers. Students will learn from and teach one another. Zone of Proximal Development: Students should be provided with just enough, but not too much guidance. This is done through scaffolding, the pruning away of guidance as students progress in independent learning. The end goal of such scaffolding is students reaching complete autonomy. Collaborative Problem Solving: Students should feel comfortable sharing their problems with their teachers. Collaborative Problem Solving creates an intervention plan that allows for student and teacher to work together in conversation to find a mutually beneficial solution to a students issues in the classroom. Culturally Responsive Pedagogy: Students should be able to connect with the curriculum through reading and lesson planning. This includes culturally relevant texts and curriculum featuring informational texts that students can relate to.
