Practice and apply strategies to seek help for themselves and others. Recognising and interpreting emotional responses to stressful situations and proposing strategies for managing these responses. Have a further understanding of Alcohol and drugs and the health risks/issues associated with both.

Testing the students prior knowledge to ensure the academic level of the unit is suitable and challenging for all students using true or false questions.

Motivation and Introduction: 1. Inform students of activity instructions and the purpose of the starting activity. 2. Students to stand up behind their chairs to prepare for true and false drug related interactive activity. 3. Provide students with correct answers throughout the activity.

4. The teacher will tell the students the purpose of the lesson, discuss the lesson Formal looking objectives and what activities will be at the mind map covered throughout the lesson. that each group Lesson Steps: has created. Review the topic by watching a You Tube clip titled Can We Talk About Alcohol and Drugs. Questions to ask: What was the main idea portrayed in the video? How many ways can parents talk with their children about the prevention of youth alcohol and drug abuse?

Investigate reasons why young people choose to use or not use drugs and propose strategies to make informed choices

What concerns are associated with legal and illegal drug use? What are some strategies to make informed choices? 5. Allocate students in groups of 3 or 4 and give groups either the topic of Alcohol or Drugs. 6. Students will log on to group mindmeister account to begin mind maps. 7. Students to complete group mind map, save it and then discuss findings. Lesson Closure: 1) To conclude the lesson, students are called back to their groups. 2) Students to save mind maps to use and make reference to for next/future lessons. 3) Students to share something they learnt with the rest of class that they did not previously know. 4) Question students at random on what they have learnt Why is it that people take drugs? (Topic related). 5) Teacher to make reference to the importance of the lesson objectives and why it is important that we address the health issue of Alcohol and Drug use.

Motivation and Introduction: 1. Students will move into their groups. 2. Students will be handed a questionnaire to see what they remember last week. 3. Students will discuss their answers with their group members. 4. The teacher will tell the students the purpose of the lesson; discuss the lesson objectives and what activities will be covered throughout the lesson. Lesson Steps: 5. Students will bring up their mind maps. 6. In their allocated groups student will read their mind maps to revise what they found and add information to their mind maps if needed. 7. Students will find 5-10 images relating to their mind map information. 8. Student will save the images they found to the pictures folder. 9. Students will then edit or make a collage with BeFunky. 10. Student will save the edited images to the pictures folder. Lesson Closure: 11. Students to share something they learnt with the rest of class that they did not previously know. 12. Motivation and Introduction: 1. Students will move outside to a grassed area. 2. Students will form a circle. 3. A nominated student till stand in the middle of the circle, and spin 10 times. Another nominated student will have a foam ball and throw into the student after they have spined the 10 times. 4. Discuss the results. Repeat with new students. 5. Students move back into class into their groups. 6. The teacher will tell the students the purpose of the lesson; discuss the lesson objectives and what activities will be covered throughout the lesson. Lesson Steps: 7.
