Weather Hazard Project

Third grade meteorologists! Severe weather is coming to our town! Each group has been assigned a severe weather topic to research (i.e. hurricanes, tornados, thunderstorms, blizzards, floods, drought, heat waves, and ice storms). Your task is to research your severe weather topic, and what is causing this weather. Our city is depending on your information so that they know how to prepare and protect themselves! Your group will create a weather report that will be presented to the class. Please include the following information: 1. Origin of Weather: What is causing your severe weather? What weather conditions cause this severe weather? Where and when are these storms most likely to happen? 2. Details: How is your weather classified? Is there a specific instrument used to measure your weather? What technology is used to monitor this type of weather? 3. Preparation: How can people prepare for this severe weather? How can people protect themselves? What should a person do if they are caught in the storm? What can be done for cleanup after the storm? Remember, have fun with this assignment! Feel free to dress up or use props. Be creative!!!
