Wicked Awesome Learning Opportunity Effectiveness of Advisory and its practical implementation in dealing with real life situations

during Tuck Shop My first WALO looks at a unique approach to finding an audience for the
tuck shop. In this I would like students to value money and learn to respect and greet people . In this WALO I will explain the unique approach, discuss the results of my work,students work and reflect on my learnings and explain the next steps I plan on taking. I will connect my first WALO with the Advisory slot and plans where we teach value education by introducing different topics like Being polite, Greeting people, asking for permission, making a request etc. As a part of the project of Tuckshop I connect Advisory as my first WALO where the actual implementation of their learning of Advisory topics will pratically take place. There will be lot of student involvement and this project will be meaningful to the students.

What struck you about this experience? I was struck by the students energy,confidence and commitment for the Tuck shop.

What questions arose for the topic? How should I balance the time in the clasroom and outside the classroom? How many students will be there in the group? How will I select my group of students for the tuck shop? How will we collobrate and inculcate 21st century skills in our tuck shop? How will I manage the diciplinary issues while managing the students? How much do the students learn through project-based learning

and other traditional methods of teaching? Next Step Finding the right arrangement to display things for the tuck shop. Thinking about how I can best help the student in their critiques to improve the quality of work. What is my role in the critique process? How do I give student feedback before their work is finally assessed? Talk to students one---on one, give written comments, or continue to support the students to get there themselves? My Fear My biggest fear about my firsst WALO is how students will deal publically when they will manage their own counters in the Tuck shop.
