Sketch Requirements For All Homework Weekly sketches must be completed according to instructions to earn full credit Students should commit a minimum of 50 minutes per week to complete the homework sketch Must be drawn large leaving a minimum of negative space Some assignments will be designated as "draw from observation" meaning look at the object while drawing Due on Thursdays EVERY week (If no school on Thursday, then due Wednesday) Each sketchbook assignment will be worth 100%. Each DAY it is late will deduct 10% from the final grade. Expressive Lines: Line Experimentation Fill the page with as many different kinds of lines as possible. Color or black & white Directional Lines: Repetition, Angles, Rhythm Fill the page with groups of lines which move together, changing direction with angles. Color or black & white Echoes: Freeform Line Repetition Beginning with one freeform line, and echoing it with variations. Color Draw what you Hear: Interpretive, Conceptual Visualize sounds without drawing an object. Color 2D and 3D Arrows: Page Compositon from 2-D and 3-D shapes. Color Typography Testers: Lettering and Letterforms Fill the page with as many different kinds of lettering as possible. Color Pen & Ink Shading: Pen & Ink Value Shade and achieve values and gradations with line patterns. Black & White Pencil Shading: Value and Pencil Shading Gradations on a composition of inventive shapes. Black and White Blind Contour with Color Wheel: Observation Color wheel added to blind contour drawing Color and Black and White Bottle Landscapes: Creating Distance Relationships in a Drawing Contour Drawing from direct observation; composing placement in space in a drawing Pencil Full of Contours Page: Contours from Real Life Observation A page full of blind and modified contour drawings from an "on-site" observation experience. Pen & Ink with Color Accent Everybodys Junk Drawer: Observation, Modified Contour Create a loose drawing from observation of the random assortment in a "junk drawer." Pencil, Ink, and Color Roller-Coaster Contrast: Invention & Value Shading Interwoven loops and shading to create highlights and shadows.
