Breanne Rowland Walk Now for Autism Speaks Reflection

The Walk Now for Autism Speaks was exciting for me because it was the first walk I participated in that helped the community. Our class put together a team that represented the occupational therapy program at Touro. We were also there to represent a specific family who put together a team for their son. This individual was in our cohort and was extremely passionate about this topic and we all felt that it was essential to support her. This made the walk more personal and brought our cohort together for a good cause. We all made shirts for one another and decorated them to represent our team. This was something that helped our friendships grow as a whole and brought us closer. It also encouraged our participation within the community and helped bring more awareness to the topic. I enjoyed being a part of the community and raising awareness for something that I felt passionate about. I think it also brought our cohort together for the first time and helped us become closer as a team. Additionally, I enjoyed this walk because this gave us a chance to work on something together outside of school. Hopefully I will be able to participate in this walk again next year and have the same experience.
