Question 1

The Title of The Film

The titles used in this were taken from a mix of other action/ thriller films. The order of the titles were taken from 300 and Pacific Rim. The font however was taken from the style of other popular titles such as 2 Guns and Gamer as shown in our font research. Also we used titles slightly to show a character's superiority in a situation, for example this shot when James is on the left and the title on the right side of the frame.

Props and Costume

The props that were used were thought out well, the gun was used to show that the antagonist feels either threatened, week or even intimidate the protagonist due to his physical/ emotional weakness. Also a chain with a key attached was used to show that the antagonist was looking for something secretive and valuable. The costumes used are used due to the characters living up to the stereotypes of their social class the Protagonist being a Nerd and the antagonist being a rough type character.

Setting/location
This setting was used to show the characters loneliness in their lives. The first shot was used in particular to show how the protagonist is lost due to him being in the forest. The gun scene was shot in an open field to foreshadow their further loneliness if they continue to follow this path. Also this was also inspired by the Hunger Games as the majority of the film was based in a forest.

Editing
The title sequence was colour graded to bring out the grittiness of the world that our media product resided in, but I added an effect called Bleach Breaking which has been used in The Matrix movies, the reason this technique was used was to highlight the grittiness of this world further. This technique is used for reel film, but due to the fact that I used Final Cut Pro gave me access to this feature that was normally only available for reel film.

Camera Work
There were a variety of camera shots used in this title sequence to build suspense. For example the close ups that were used were used to either highlight something about something or someone. The two shot was used to show the audience that there is some sort of rivalry between these two characters and that something that will effect the storyline heavily is going to happen. There is a close up of the key especially to show how significant it is in the storyline and development of the film (theoretically)

Genre
The genre we decided to go for is action/ thriller due to its wide range of a potential audience that it possesses. Also from our audience research we noticed that this genre was in high demand. We stayed true to the action/ thriller genre due to the chase scene and guns used in the title sequence. Many action/ thriller films use these elements such as and James Bond movie or The Matrix movies.
