Performance Assessment Task

Magnetic Toy!

Toys for Kids is one of the largest toy companies in the world. They would like to add a new line of magnetic toys for children ages 5-10. Because you are a child who knows about toys and magnets, you have been asked to design and create a magnetic toy to present to the company president. You will use a variety of materials (including at least one magnet) to build your toy. You will need to be able to explain how the magnet(s) is/are able to work.

Once your toy is complete, you will present it to the president of the company. The president will ask you to show how your toy works. You will also need to tell about: the materials used and how you built your magnetic toy how to use your magnetic toy why, or what causes, the magnet(s) to work

If your toy meets the companys standards, you may soon see your toy on the shelves of your favorite toy store!
