Declarative Knowledge The learner will know and understand that: DK 1. What constitutes a prime and composite numbers. DK 2. The different ways data can be interpreted and compared. DK3. The process of adding and subtracting fractions. Context for Learning By the end of year 6 students need to be able to recognise the properties of prime, composite, square and triangular numbers. Students need the ability to interpret and compare a variety of data displays. Students need to be able to describe rules used in sequences involving whole numbers, factions and decimals. The concepts within this unit not only assist students in their progression into year seven, these authentic tasks are taught in real life contexts. As the majority of the students in this class are kinesthetic learners concrete materials used throughout unit. Visual resources used to engage students. The students are in a lap top classroom- digital technology used to meet their interests and engage students. Prime numbers

Procedural Knowledge The learner will be able to: PK 1. Identify what numbers are prime and composite. PK 2. Interpret and compare data displays. PK 3. Add and subtract fractions with same and related denominators Vocabulary

Composite number Square numbers Triangular numbers Whole numbers Denominator Column, pie, bar, line graphs. Percentages Decimals Addition Subtraction Interpret Identify Describe Compare Page 2
