SPECIAL CURRICULUM PROGRAMS AVID

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a college-preparation program. AVID is an elective. The students can enroll in junior high and continue through high school. The students benefit from tutorials, guest speakers and colleges visits. DPHS is working towards being a demonstration (exemplary) AVID school.

SPECIAL CURRICULUM PROGRAMS CULINARY ARTS


The culinary arts program is an elective program. This program has been very successful in preparing students for the restaurant industry. The school has a fullcommercial kitchen and students serve the DPHS faculty and cater to the district. The group competes nationally and has been very successful under the direction of Chef Reginald Vincent.

SPECIAL CURRICULUM PROGRAMS ADVANCED ACADEMICS


The school offers Advanced Placement (AP) courses that follow a national curriculum. Students take an exam and are can earn college credit courses. SPECIAL CURRICULUM PROGRAMS LIFE SKILLS


Life Skills is a Special Education curriculum for students with multiple handicaps and health issues. They have a practicum/functional curriculum. The students have personal care services and special transportation if needed. The students raise money to fund activities and gain practical skills by maintaining a school-wide recycling program, selling tacos and managing the on-campus clothing and school supplies stores.
