History of DNB
In 1814 King William I of the Netherlands founded De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB). In time DNB develo ed from a rivate lender into! ultimatel"! a art of the #uro ean $"stem of %entral Banks and the Dutch rudential su ervisor of the entire financial sector. &he monetar" centre of gravit" shifted from DNB to the #%B in 'rankfurt! the guilder (ent out and the euro came in. What remained unchanged through all those "ears (as the role of DNB as guardian of financial sta)ilit".
