Past and Present

Chapelwood School for Young Children was established in 1958 as a ministry of Chapelwood United Methodist Church. Designed to answer an identified need for quality preschool programs in the Memorial area of Houston, Texas, Chapelwood School continues to grow and serve the community. With an average enrollment of nearly 400 children each year, our school sends children on to some of Houstons most elite private schools as well as the highly acclaimed Spring Branch Independent School District schools, while maintaining the warm and caring atmosphere of much smaller programs.

Our Families
An active and strong PTO meets monthly to assess and implement events for the school. All new parents are encouraged to attend a Parent Volunteer Training class as well as various Parent Education classes. When asked why they chose Chapelwood School and what makes them want to continue attending, these parents said: The loving, safe and nurturing environment, as well as the tradition of excellence in staffing and programming. My kids love to go to school! The school builds a strong start to a faith foundation while focusing on the basics of education.

Our goal is to provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum serving children ages three months through Pre Kindergarten, including a BRIDGE program. Our children learn through center-based experiences which provide for different learning styles. Our school strives to nurture intellectual, physical, social, emotional and spiritual growth.

Program Highlights

12 years average teaching experience Lead teachers must hold a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and/or Child Development Associate Certification Only Memorial area preschool with a full time Registered Nurse on staff

Two divisions of the school: Nursery: 3 months to 2 1/2 years Preschool: 3 years to Bridge
