FADE IN: INT. KITCHEN OF IN PRINCIPAL HAMLETS HOUSE Principal Hamlet, Hamlet, and Gertrude are eating breakfast and getting ready to go to work at Denmark Preparatory Academy. GERTRUDE Hurry up! We are already running late and this is the second time this year that this has happened. (pauses and turns head towards Hamlet) Get your head out of that stupid phone! HAMLET (scowling at his mother) But, mom! Im texting Ophelia! GERTRUDE (looking irritated with her son) NO BUTS! I am your mother and you will do what I say because I said it! HAMLET Fine, LETS GO! PRINCIPAL HAMLET (Sighs) Alright. Were going to be late. Lets go. HAMLET I am! PRINCIPAL HAMLET (stares at H and says softly) Stop the attitude.

HAMLET (stares back and slowly drops his fists that he had made) Fine dad. Lets go. PRINCIPAL HAMLET Thank you son. GERTRUDE (Goes to Hamlet jokingly) Hamlet, darling. Come on, you know mama loves you. Gertrude pinches Hamlets cheeks. Principal Hamlet and Hamlet start to leave, Gertrude stops. GERTRUDE Dang it! I forgot some paperwork. Yall go on and Ill meet yall at school. PRINCIPAL HAMLET Alright, see you soon. I love you! Principal Hamlet and Gertrude embrace. GERTRUDE Love you too. Principal Hamlet and Hamlet leave. Claudius enters. CLAUDIUS Whats up honey? Claudius embraces Gertrude GERTRUDE Did he see you? CLAUDIUS No. I made sure that he didnt.

GERTRUDE Good. We dont need to make it so close next time. You know what would happen if he found out, baby. CLAUDIUS I didnt mean to make it so close. If you werent already married it wouldnt matter. GERTRUDE Yes, but you must understand that the only way to be with you indefinitely is for Hamlet to be dead! CLAUDIUS Maybe, just maybe, we could find a way around killing him. I mean, he is my brother after all. GERTRUDE You do want to be with me, dont you, baby? CLAUDIUS Well of course I do, but I mean there must be another way. GERTRUDE Your choice. Me or him. CLAUDIUS You know that Ill always choose you. FADE TO: INT. PRINICPAL HAMLETS OFFICE Claudius sneaks into Principal Hamlets office. Claudius is peeing into Hamlets coffee.

CLAUDIUS Hamlet I know youre my brother but I love Gertrude more than life itself... well at least your life that is. Claudius pours poison into Principal Hamlets coffee. Claudius leaves as he hears Principal Hamlet coming. Principal Hamlet enters. He stops to speak to Gertrude. PRINCIPAL HAMLET Hello, Gertrude. GERTRUDE Hey, sweetie. I left some coffee on your desk for you. PRINCIPAL HAMLET Thank you! Principal Hamlet goes into his office and drinks the coffee. PRINCIPAL HAMLET Gertrude! Can you come in here? GERTRUDE (looking at Principal Hamlet frantically) Whats wrong?! PRINCIPAL HAMLET Im not feeling all too well GERTRUDE Whats the matter? PRINCIPAL HAMLET I just I feel a tad odd GERTRUDE How can I help? PRINCIPAL HAMLET (closes his eyes) I dont know

GERTRUDE (smirks slightly) Good night, my love. CUT TO: INT. SCHOOL OFFICE OUTSIDE OF PRINICPAL HAMLETS OFFICE Gertrude runs out into room sobbing that Principal Hamlet is dead. Hamlet is talking to Ophelia as he is called into the office for a sudden emergency. There he is greeted by his hysterical mother and his red-faced uncle. HAMLET Whats wrong mom! GERTRUDE Hamlet I dont know how to tell you HAMLET (demandingly) Tell me what? CLAUDIUS Hamlet your father he

HAMLET (with a stern but curious face) He what! GERTRUDE Hes dead son. HAMLET (looking at his class ring) But he cant be! He promised hed see me graduate. Claudius walks over and embraces his nephew. CLAUDIUS Everything will be fine, son. Hamlet shoves him off and stares at him with wild eyes.

HAMLET I am not YOUR son. I am my fathers son. Gertrude walks over and holds her son. HAMLET Why mom? Why did he have to die GERTRUDE (lovingly) It was just his time son. HAMLET No it wasnt,... it just wasnt GERTRUDE Everything will be fine son HAMLET I have a feeling that something isnt right about this. Claudius looks nervously at Gertrude. CLAUDIUS Your mother went to check in on him and he was gone Hamlet... HAMLET I dont want to hear anything from you right now! Hamlet exits the room in a rush pushing past Ophelia who has come to see what is happening. Ophelia chases after Hamlet. The door closes to the office while Claudius and Gertrude embrace. CLAUDIUS How long should we wait? GERTRUDE (kissing Claudius cheek) Why should we wait?

FADE TO: EXT. IN A GARDEN AT CLAUDIUS AND GERTRUDES WEDDING Gertrude walks down the aisle and music can be heard in the background. PREACHER Please rise while the bride makes her way down the aisle Gertrude is smiling brightly and finally makes her way to stand next to Claudius. PREACHER You may all be seated Claudius is smiling and nervously chewing on his lip. Skips to the I dos. PREACHER Do you Gertrude take this man to be your husband? GERTRUDE (smiling at Claudius) I do. PREACHER Do you Claudius take this woman to be your wife? CLAUDIUS (smiling at Gertrude) I do. PREACHER You may now kiss the bride Claudius and Gertrude lean in. CUT TO: EXT. CLAUDIUS AND GERTRUDES RECEPTION IN A BIG TENT

OPHELIA Hamlet! Whats wrong? -goes over to Hamlet whos in a corner by himselfHAMLET Nothing. Nothing besides this joke of a wedding. -slams his glass downOPHELIA (grabs his arm and looks up at him) Calm down and tell me whats wrong. HAMLET (looks down at her) This is such a joke Ophelia OPHELIA I know it is, but shes your mother and a grown woman. HAMLET (staring at his mother and uncle) Its a disgrace. OPHELIA Itll be fine sweetheart. HAMLET No it wont be Ophelia! You know nothing about my TRUE feelings. OPHELIA What do you mean? I am your best friend... HAMLET Are you sure of that?

OPHELIA (looking at Hamlet with tears in her eyes) Yes HAMLET Get out of my face! Hamlet shoves Ophelia off of himself. OPHELIA Be that way Hamlet! Just dont let me ever cross your mind again! Ophelia runs out crying. FADE TO: INT. HAMLET AT HOME. GHOST HAMLET Follow me, son. Hamlet is in his room and listening to his mother and uncle talk. They have no idea that hamlet is home and are talking about Principal Hamlets murder. CLAUDIUS Honey dont you worry about if he ever finds out? GERTRUDE He wont! Hamlets eyes pop open wide. CLAUDIUS But if he ever does? GERTRUDE He wont find out about what we did. HAMLET (thinking to himself) What am I not supposed to know?

GERTRUDE WE didnt do it. CLAUDIUS Yes WE did! GERTRUDE I didnt do a thing! All I did was leave the door unlocked and open. CLAUDIUS You made me choose! GERTRUDE I never slipped the poison in his coffee! Hamlet punches the wall. HAMLET I knew it! I knew it! Hamlet listens for more details GERTRUDE Arent you happy? CLAUDIUS Of course I am! Im just worried about someone finding out! GERTRUDE (looking at Claudius sternly) Shut up about it. CLAUDIUS (Defeated) Fine honey

GHOST HAMLET (to Hamlet) Avenge me!

Hamlet slowly slips by his mother and uncle to the hallway of the school. OPHELIA Hamlet! Ophelia chases after him. HAMLET Stop trying to fix everything! All you do is ruin it when you try! OPHELIA (in utter distress) Fine Hamlet. Ill fix your problem! FADE TO: INT. POLONIUS CLASSROOM Polonius is sitting at his desk in his classroom surrounded by books and ungraded papers. His face is filled with stress and his sighs are long and weary. Ophelia runs in with tears in her eyes and knocks over a copy of William Shakespeares Hamlet. POLONIUS (looks up at Ophelia) Whats wrong now? OPHELIA What do you mean Whats wrong now?! POLONIUS (blankly staring) Darling, youre always in a fuss. OPHELIA You just dont care! Ophelia slams her fist down on her fathers desk.

OPHELIA Youve never cared! You wouldnt care if I went and killed myself! Polonius chuckles at the comment. POLONIUS Honey we both know you wouldnt do it. OPHELIA Dont miss me when Im gone. Leaves with a blank face. Polonius goes over and picks up the copy of Hamlet and shakes his head. Hamlet rushes in and goes over to Poloniuss desk. POLONIUS Hamlet! If youre here about your paper youre too late to talk yourself out of your C. HAMLET Im not here about the paper. Have you seen Ophelia? POLONIUS She just ran out of here in a fuss. HAMLET Thanks! Hamlet runs out of the room. POLONIUS Young love. Its fantastic to watch. FADE TO: INT. THE SCHOOLS POOL Hamlet finds Ophelia slouched over by the diving teams pool. Hamlet runs over to her and notices a bottle of pills beside

her. Hamlet is filled with unimaginable thoughts as he picks her head up. HAMLET Ophelia! Wake up! Hamlet checks Ophelias wrist for a pulse. OPHELIA (weakly) I am ending your problem Hamlet HAMLET You arent my problem, Ophelia you are what keep mine away. Hamlet brushes the hair out of Ophelias eyes. OPHELIA Here I am by the water alone with you, but it isnt as picturesque as I had hoped. Ophelia gives hamlet a faint smile. HAMLET Why did you do this Ophelia? Hamlet holds her head on his chest. OPHELIA I feel as though our life has been played out before, Hamlet, like it has been performed a million times in a million different ways. She closes her eyes and slowly lets out a deep slow breath. HAMLET But every play has its ending, and this story is ending in its own way. Hamlet closes Ophelias eyes and lets out a tear. FADE TO: INT. HAMLETS HOME

Hamlet enters into his home to find his mother and uncle talking with Polonius. Hamlets face is bitter and filled with questions. Polonius tries to walk out, but Hamlet slams the door behind him. Claudius slowly gets up to confront his nephew. Gertrude shifts uneasily as hamlet points at her. CLAUDIUS Hamlet dont. HAMLET (interrupting) Sit down and shut it. CLAUDIUS Watch how you speak to your father! Hamlet looks past Claudius to his mother. HAMLET You are not my father, and that woman there is not my mother. GERTRUDE But Hamlet! I am your mother! CLAUDIUS Youre speaking like a mad man! HAMLET I am mad. Man. You two are the lowest of low. GERTRUDE Hamlet! Stop it! She gets up to goes over to her son. HAMLET Sit down! Both of you! Hamlet watches as both go back to their seats. Polonius tries to leave once more but Hamlet throws himself on him.

POLONIUS Get off of me you brute! Hamlet with tears in his eyes. HAMLET So I am the brute? I am only but a monster that recent circumstances have created! Polonius tries to push Hamlet off to no success. HAMLET Stop moving! Your daughter came to you for help, and now she too now no longer moves. POLONIUS (stammering) What what do you mean HAMLET I held her as she took her last breath! Hamlet strikes Polonius. POLONIUS (yells) Stop! HAMLET My best friend! Hamlet strikes Polonius. My love! Hamlet strikes Polonius. And now my sanity! Hamlet strikes Polonius. All of them gone! Hamlet strikes Polonius.

POLONIUS I never meant to hurt her! Polonius takes a sharp breath and closes his eyes. Hamlet climbs off of the now dead Polonius and sits calmly across from his frantic mother. GERTRUDE What did you do you monster! HAMLET I am not the monster. I am only what you have made me. Hamlet stares at his uncle. CLAUDIUS (standing up) Dont talk to your mother that way! HAMLET (standing to face Claudius) That creature! That foul beast! She is no longer my mother! Hamlet moves toward Claudius, Claudius is pushing Hamlet off. CLAUDIUS Get off of me! What is the meaning of this?! GERTRUDE (screams) Hamlet what has gotten into you?! HAMLET ME? What has gotten into me? The bitter breath of death is what has gotten into me! Tears begin to stream down Hamlets face as he stares at the two in the room. Hamlet switches his stares between his mother and uncle.

HAMLET You killed your brother! And you were the leader of the whole thing! Claudius punches Hamlet. CLAUDIUS You need to learn your place! GERTRUDE Stop! Both of you! Gertrude gets in-between the two men. Hamlet swings at Claudius. HAMLET You sir need to learn yours! Claudius pulls out a knife, tries to stab Hamlet but hits Gertrude instead. CLAUDIUS Look what youve made me do! Gets down to help his wife. The sunset in the distance gives light on a family photo sitting on the coffee table. Hamlet looks at his fathers warm face and his hand on Hamlets shoulder. This enrages Hamlet and fills him with a new sense of hatred for the man in-front-of him. HAMLET Stand up you piece of trash! Hamlet pulls Claudius up on his feet. CLAUDIUS Get off me! Claudius pushes Hamlet off of himself. HAMLET I am now ending my problem. I am turning off the lights and clearing out my soul. Right now my old world comes to an end.

Pushes Claudius into the wall. CLAUDIUS Stop it! Claudius grabs Hamlets shirt, who wont stop talking HAMLET I am the king of kings in the realm of this reality. Hamlet slams his fist into Claudius twice. My fears no longer control me. I have conquered the world! Hamlet strangles Claudius to death and steps over his dead mother. HAMLET And now is the time that my new world begins. Hamlet lets out a final tear and makes his way back to the pool room. CUT TO: INT. POOL ROOM Hamlet makes his way back to Ophelia and sits next to her. HAMLET To be or not to be That really is the question. Hamlet takes the rest of the pills beside Ophelia and dies. End scene
