Framing the Lesson: The Heart of Every Lesson
For lessons to come to life in the classroom, they must emanate from the heart. I believe that lesson frames are the heart of every lesson! They give a purpose of learning and they should be the foundation of all lesson plans. Lesson Frames provide the criteria for evaluating student achievement. They also ensure learning is focused so students have a sense of purpose to learning and know what is expected of them. According to research completed by John Hattie: Simply tell students what they will be learning before the lesson begins and you can raise student achievement as much as 27%. Im sure most of you are familiar with The First Days of School by Harry Wong. The concept of using objectives to serve as a learning target can be found in Chapter 21 of the book. Most Valuable Knight

Be sure to give a great big shout out to Elizabeth Ludwig, 1st grade teacher, and this weeks MVK! Lets read what you all had to say about Ms. Liz

Mrs. Ludwig is always there when you need support, guidance or just someone to talk to. She truly cares about her kids and her job. She strives to be a life-long 4/18 learnergrowing from training and reading about research-based strategies to try Student/Staff Holiday with her students. Liz is always upbeat, even when she may not feel good. She will No School take the time to stop and help, if needed, to answer a question that may not pertain to her or her class just to help someone else. Liz has a caring energy that we all 4/21 Sixth Grading Cycle Begins definitely enjoy! I was so impressed with her Open House room presentation! I will be stealing some of her ideas for next year. Way to go, Liz! AIP Lesson Plans Due
