Procedure 1. This experiment requires us to use two different weir plates which are the rectangular 2.

We began this experiment by using the rectangular notch. 3. First of all the apparatus was connected to the supply and leveled 4. Second, the water supply was allowed to flow at its minimum flow. We consider the flow as a minimum when the water flow is exactly on the crest of the notch. 5. Then the reading of Head, H was taken by using the point gauge. The point gauge was positioned exactly on the water surface to get its reading. Then, the gauge reading was also taken at this time. 6. Third, we took the discharge rate when the water flow has stabilized. We observed the time taken for the water to fill 5kg of water. 7. Fourth, we allowed the water to flow at its maximum flow rate by regulating the bench supply valve. When the water flow has stabilized, we took the Head, H reading and its rate of water discharge. 8. Subsequent values were measured with roughly equal decrements in the value of Head, H. Eight experimental points were taken for this notch. 9. Fifth, we changed the weir plate and used the V-shaped notch. Step 3 to 6 was repeated and the values were tabulated. 10. Lastly we took the width of the rectangular notch and angle for the triangular notch and the values were recorded. 11. Calculations was made by using the given formula in the manual.
