Mission Statement
The mission of the Brick Township Department of Parks & Recreation is to improve the quality of life for all Brick Township citizens through the provision of high quality recreational facilities and a wide variety of programs that promote a healthy and enriching lifestyle and a greater sense of community while enhancing the social, cultural and physical well-being of citizens and visitors of Brick Township.

Adaptive Programming
The Department of Parks & Recreation is afliated with the New Jersey Recreation and Parks Association, the National Recreation and Parks Association and World Leisure and Recreation. The Township of Brick does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed and gender, nation of origin, age or disability in providing services to our residents. All residents are entitled to full participation in any of the Township of Brick!s recreation programs. The Township of Brick will make reasonable accommodations for qualied individuals with disabilities, furnishing appropriate auxiliary aids and services upon request at no additional charge.

Secret Witness Program


The Department of Parks & Recreation is extremely proud of the Secret Witness Program. This program has aided in the reduction of vandalism to park facilities. Vandalism costs the taxpayers money and requires manpower hours to make repairs and clean. Observers of vandalism are encouraged to call the 24-hour hotline at 732-262-1100. All calls will remain anonymous.

Holidays
The Township of Brick observes the following holidays: New Year!s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President!s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Weekend (Thur. & Fri.) and Christmas Day. The Department of Parks and Recreation will be closed on these days and no programs or activities will be held. The Department also follows the Brick Township Public Schools Calendar for early childhood programs. No early childhood programs will be held when schools are not in session.

Registration Information
Walk-In Registration
Register in person at the Brick Township Department of Parks and Recreation Ofce located in the Civic Plaza, 270 Chambers Bridge Road. Ofce hours are 7:30am 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. The ofce accepts cash, check or money order made payable to the Township of Brick and Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover Credit Cards.

General Information
Enrollment is limited to Brick Township residents, children of Brick Township taxpayers or those who receive regular daily care from a relative who is a Brick Township resident. A driver!s license, tax bill, utility bill or lease with a Brick Township address is required to complete registration. A birth certicate may be required for children ages 6 and under. All programs require a minimum enrollment. All programs, dates and fees listed in this brochure are subject to change.

Online Registration
Parks and Recreation is pleased to offer online registration for most programs and events. To register online visit parksandrecreation.bricktownship.net You must create a family prole, username and password to register online. Refund Policy
Full refunds will be given in the event that the Parks and Recreation Department cancels a program or if there is a medical reason. Refunds will only be issued up to two weeks prior to the start of a program. Convenience fees for using credit cards are NONREFUNDABLE. The Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to adjust the refund policy.

Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards are accepted. There is a convenience fee for using credit cards online and in person. The convenience fee is $1.95 for transactions under $100 and 2.5% of the transaction total for over $100. Please note: Beach Badges cannot be purchased online.

facility rentals
Brick Township has several municipal facilities available for rental for private purposes. Established fees and insurance requirements apply to all rentals. These facilities include: Windward Beach Park - located on the Metedeconk River, Windward Beach Park has three areas that can be rented by the public for exclusive use. These are the bandshell area, the gazebo and the picnic area. Drum Point Sports Complex - located on Drum Point Road adjacent to Drum Point Elementary and Emma Havens Young Schools, the facility has numerous athletic elds, a walking/jogging trail, restrooms and lighting. Civic Plaza - located at 270 Chambers Bridge Road, the facility has restrooms and an all purpose room. Traders Cove Marina and Park - located at 40 Mantoloking Road has a gazebo and picnic areas that can be rented for various functions. For rates and availability, please call 732-262-1073. Please note, facilities cannot be rented online; you must call the ofce.

Beaches
Brick Township operates three ocean beaches and one riverfront beach at Windward Beach Park. All beaches are staffed with lifeguards 7 days a week between June 16 and Labor Day. They are open weekends from Memorial Day until September 14 from 8:45am - 4:45pm. Beach badges are required for access to all beaches.

Brick Beach I - 310 Route 35 North


While on Route 35 South look for Used to Bes Bar Restaurant which will be on your left hand side, (approximately 1-2 miles past Mantoloking Rd.) Less than 500 feet further south from Used to Bes and across the street is the parking lot for Brick Beach I. Amenities include outdoor shower heads, concessions, parking, restrooms.

Brick Beach II - 354 Route 35 North


There are no concessions, bathrooms or parking at Beach II. To access Brick Beach II, park at either Brick Beach I or III and walk on the beach to Brick Beach II. PLEASE NOTE: There will be no access to Brick Beach II from Route 35 this summer; to access this beach, you must walk along the ocean from Beach I or Beach III.

Brick Beach III - 440 Route 35 North


While on Route 35 South look for Bayside Park which will be on your right hand side, (approximately 2-3 miles past Mantoloking Rd.) Directly across from Bayside Park on 35 North is the parking lot for Brick Beach III. Brick Beach III has bathrooms, concession and parking lot. Brick Beach III is the southernmost Brick Beach.

Windward Beach Park - 265 Princeton Avenue


Amenities include parking, playgrounds, volleyball net, bathrooms, shing and crabbing piers, bocce courts, horseshoe pit, gazebo, picnic areas.

Due to the ongoing reconstruction and recovery from Sandy, closures of Brick Beaches will be necessary this summer. We expect closures to be minimal and there will always be a beach accessible at all times. Thank you for your understanding.

Badges and wristbands MUST be worn at all times on beaches.

Senior Beach Badges


Brick Township residents who will be age 65 by September 1, 2014 may receive free daily wristbands for access to Brick Township!s beaches. Each individual requesting a wristband must provide proof of age (driver!s license, birth certicate, county ID card). Senior wristbands are available at Brick Beach I, Brick Beach III and Windward Beach - not in the Brick Recreation Ofces. Additionally, residents who will be age 65 by September 1, 2014 may purchase a season parking permit for $15.

Surf Chairs
Individuals with disabilities have the opportunity to reserve a specially designed wheel chair that will provide easy access to Beach I, Beach III and Windward Beach. Call 732-262-1184 for information or to reserve a chair.

Womens Only Surf Camp


Brick women ages 17 and over Amazing things happen when you combine the beauty and power of the ocean, the challenge and exhilaration of surng and the supportive environment of women coming together to learn something new. This unique and empowering surf camp includes morning tai chi and meditation to help leave your stress behind. Participate in a comprehensive surf lesson that will ensure your safety, success and enjoyment. Camp covers ocean and beach safety, surf etiquette, choosing your equipment, board and leash handling, lying, paddling and standing on board, wave selection and wave riding skills. Through discussions, demonstrations, beach and water training, drills, games, coaching and personal attention, you will learn all the fundamentals needed to catch some waves. Kids Surng Refresher Camp


Brick boys and girls ages 10 - 17 Pre-requiste: Coastline Adventures! Beginner Surf Camp, surng at least one season and able to catch some waves without assistance. Have you barely surfed since last summer? Start your surng season off right with this 12 hour Refresher Training Camp. Each student will receive personalized feedback, training tips and coaching to ensure a safe and enjoyable summer season. Fee includes equipment use; if you have your own equipment, please bring it. Intermediate Level Surf Camp


Brick boys and girls ages 10 - 17 Pre-requisite: Coastline Adventures! Beginner Surf Camp (can be discussed), ability to catch and ride unbroken waves and surng on your own equipment. If you have been successfully catching and riding your own waves for a while and would like to take your surng to the next level, this camp is for you! Learn how to improve your strength, speed and power. Increase your wave knowledge and improve or learn how to go down the line, surf backside, turn and duck dive. This surf camp includes personalized assessments, feedback, training drills and progressive skill building. Please bring your own equipment (boards provided if necessary). Ages 0 - 2.5 Child and mommy (or caretaker) will participate in teacher guided activities such as songs, crafts, free play and gym time. Youth Sports Programs


Field Hockey Clinic
Brick Girls in Grades 2 - 8 This program is designed to introduce girls to the sport of eld hockey. Participants will be taught the rules of the game and basic skills like passing and shooting. Instructors are the coaches of Brick Township High School Field Hockey. Participants will need a mouth piece, shin guards, stick and eye gear. Please note, summer session is one week, spring session is on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Brick Barracuda Swim Team


Brick boys and girls ages 5 - 14 This is the 20th Season of the Barracudas Swim Team. The team competes throughout Ocean and Monmouth Counties. The program consists of age-appropriate practices, continuous swimming and participation in meets. All swimmers must meet minimum requirements or they will be referred to an instruction program. 2015 Girls T-Ball League


Brick girls in grades K-2 Registration fee includes 12 game season, t-shirt and medal for each player. Games held on weekday evenings from mid-May through mid-June. Players receive on-eld instruction during game play. There are no formal practices.

Junior Lifeguard Program


Brick residents ages 10 - 15 This program is designed to provide students with a sound aquatic background and the skills needed to one day become an Ocean Lifeguard. Students will undergo professional surf training and daily team relays involving surfboard paddling, swimming, running and beach ags. Additionally, students will be instructed in the basics of rst aid and CPR (no certication given). Course meets on Mondays. 2015 Girls Softball League

Swimming Lessons
Brick boys and girls ages 2 - 12 Available to all residents that meet the age requirements. Lessons are offered on a rst come - rst served basis. All sessions are for a total of 5 periods of instruction. Maximum enrollment is 25 per class. Youth Sports Programs


2014-2015 Recreation Basketball
Boys in Grades 4-12, Girls in Grades 4-9 The Brick Recreation Basketball Program is one of the most popular programs offered by the department. Every year, over 700 youths participate. The league features a 12 game season and playoffs. All participants will receive a tshirt and trophy. Fee: " " $70 Location: " Brick Township Schools Registration held from 7/21 - 9/26. Age Groups are as follows: 4th Grade Boys"" 4th - 6th Grade Girls 5th - 6th Grade Boys" 7th - 9th Grade Girls 7th - 8th Grade Boys Team placement in October for all grades. All children will be placed on a team and guaranteed to play. Opening day will be December 6.

Summer Basketball Clinic


Brick boys in girls in grades 2 through 8 A clinic featuring drills to improve basketball skills. There are no games in this clinic. Clinics held Tuesday and Thursdays. 30 children per class limit. High School Basketball League

Summer Outdoor Basketball


Brick boys and girls in grades 5-8, boys in grades 9 - 12 Game play only. Ten game schedule with no playoffs or organized practices. Games are at 5:30p, 6:30p or 7:30p. Grades 5 through 8 play on Mon, Wed and Fri. Grades 9 through 12 play Tue and Thu. Season begins June 16. Bitty Basketball Clinic

Youth Kick Ball


Brick boys and girls ages 5-12 This popular program returns for its third season. Teams consist of 15 players. Registration fee includes a 6 game season. Games held on Fridays. Summer Camp 2014


A Brick Township summer tradition! The summer camp provides young people with opportunities to enjoy activities such as games, arts and crafts, organized sports and more in a supervised environment. Children should bring lunch, a morning snack and plenty to drink. A variety of day trips are offered for children enrolled in the camp program and require an additional fee. Trips are optional and are lled on a rst come-rst served basis. In the event of rain, all camps are closed for the day. In the event of excessive temperatures, campers are dismissed at noon. Police Department Youth Camp


The Brick Township Police Department will offer a six-day youth camp for children age 10 - 12. Enrollment in this highly-popular program is limited and selection is done through lottery. Camp activities include physical training, military etiquette, K-9 interaction, team building exercises, positive interaction with police ofcers from all the different units within our department, simulated police pursuit driving and trips to other police agencies. The Police Camp Graduation Ceremony is held during the Annual Night Out Against Crime celebration. Register in the Police Department Week of June 2 - 6 Camp Dates: " July 28 - August 5 Campers must be able to perform rigorous physical activities and adhere to strict disciplinary policy. They are required to wear khaki shorts or slacks and sneakers. Tshirts and hats will be provided. Campers must bring their own lunch.

The Counselor in Training Program is an opportunity for young people to learn the responsibilities of becoming a Recreation Summer Camp Leader by assisting the staff with daily activities. CIT!s must by 14 years old with paid registration for the camp.

Brick Township is proud to have some of, if not the, nest municipal recreational facilities at the Jersey Shore. These facilities offer residents and visitors alike a wide variety of opportunities to be active or to enjoy some of the most beautiful natural settings in Ocean County.

Brick Township Skateboard Park


Located in the Drum Point Sports Complex behind Emma Havens Young Elementary School, the Skateboard Park has ramps, jumps and rails for young athletes. The Park is open from morning to dusk when school is not in session and from 3pm to dusk on school days. Use of the Skateboard Park is free. Helmets, knee and elbow pads must be worn at all times in the park. Bicycles are not allowed in the Skateboard Park.
