BULLYING POLICY (See Website for more information and full bullying policy) The Butterfield-Odin Public School has enacted a bullying policy. Kindergarten 2nd grade -Parents notified by letter - Be an assigned a day or day(s) in at noon depending on the act of bullying -Write a picture report (working with Counselor, Social Worker, Para, Teacher, and Principal) (-Report discretionary to the age of the student and at Principal discretion -Make a presentation of this report to another class. -Student must bring picture home to parents and explain with parents signing the picture and returned to school. 3rd 6th Grade -One (1) day out of school suspension parents notified by phone. -Parents notified by letter -Write a 1 page report (assigned by and working with Counselor, Social Worker, Para, Teacher, and Principal) -Make a presentation to another class (at discretion of staff who works with them) -student goes over report with parents and they sign and have child return to the office. This policy is intended to STOP the bullying behavior. There are many other consequences that can be imposed if the bullying is serious enough to warrant. At times bullying gets very serious and the student may be referred on to the harassment consequences of the handbook or to the Watonwan County Sheriffs Department. This will be at the discretion of the administration. The Full Bullying Policy on file is located at the end of this handbook. (Appendix A)
