3a-b Wedding slippers, 1856 Green, white, pink, and black cross-barred silk taffeta, white linen, white cotton, leather Scale: 1 box = 1" The silk and the linen lining are made up separately with the same pieces (the silk topstitched with green silk thread on both sides of the seams) and then put together; the top edges are turned in and topstiched with a spaced backstitch. The lower edges are folded down and stitched to the leather sole - not fully through - with a heavy thread in large stitches. A cotton piece the same shape as the sole is glued over the entire inner side of the sole, covering the stitches.
