The difference between ERW and Seamless Pipe There are two types of steel pipe, one is seamless

and another has a single welded seam along its length. Both have different uses. ERW (Electric Resistance Welding) pipe is manufactured by rolling metal and then welding it longitudinally across its length Seamless steel pipe (SMLS) is made from a solid round steel 'billet' which is heated and then pushed or pulled over a form until the steel is shaped into a hollow tube The largest benefit to using seamless steel pipe is the increased pressure ratings. When steel pipe is rolled and welded, the weakest point in the pipe is the welded seam. A seamless steel pipe does not have a seam, so the tensile strength is uniform around the entire circumference of the pipe

ERW pipe : low pressure Seamless steel pipe: high pressure
