Guadalupe Cortes Child Development 258 3/12/14 Autobiography I was born on June 20, 1993 at 6:00 a.m.

in the health hospital located in Morelia Michoacn Mxico. I come from a family of five including me. I have two older brothers; Im the youngest and only girl in the family. I am the type of person who at first is shy to speak, but as I get to know the people that I am around better my shyness goes away. I enjoy hanging out with my friends a lot, we go to different places like for example, we go to the movies, park, eat, and many more exciting places. Also, I get emotional to some drama movies that have a sad ending and when I listen to sad stories that friends or family members tell me. I come from a Mexican family. My family mean the world to me I do anything for them, I like spending a lot of time with them. They have shown me all about my culture and the wonderful meaning of it. I am really proud of everything they have though me, because thanks to them I am the person I am today. As I was growing up I used to play with boys cars because I grew up around mostly boys. When I was four years old I used to hang out with a boy who back then was my best friend. His name is Mauricio, he and I used to play every day outside my house in Mexico, but then I moved here to Chicago and he moved somewhere else. We lost contact with each other since then. I attended kindergartner and fist grade in Mexico, during those years every evenings I gather with my cousins and friends on the basketball court to play games such as, basketball, volleyball, soccer, hide-and-seek, freeze tag, red light, green light and many more. When I arrived here to Chicago for the first time the weather was so different than what it was in Mexico, but I really liked it here. After one year had passed I wanted to go back to Mexico because I missed

gathering with my friends and cousins every evenings. Now we go on vacations to Mexico every winter break. When I got here to Chicago I was about seven years old. I was put in second grade of elementary school. I met a lot of people who at first I didnt understand what they were talking about, because I didnt speak English, but then as time passed I learn how to speak English and was able to understand and communicate with my friends. Although learning a new language that is different from the one I was thought to speak was very difficult and challenging to me especially when none of my family members knew how to speak that language. I attended two different elementary schools, the first one I attended was from second to six grades and the second school was from six to eight grades. By the time I got to high school I made more friends than when I was in elementary school. I attended a high school that had mostly Latinos students. During my four years in high school I felt more at home because mostly everyone knew the language that I was thought to speak in my native land. High school was when I learn more things than when I was in elementary school. I believe that the people that have affected the person I am today are my family because if it wasnt for them I will not have made it to where I am today. They have thought me that if I want to become someone successful in life I have to work really had in order to get there. I am following my dad examples because thanks to him my mom and brothers have everything today. He has work very hard to give his family a better future. He has shown me that I have to study hard in order to get a better future for my childrens when I get marry and thanks to the hard work he puts, I am here today studying really hard to become someone in life. My family has been the most affected people in my life. I am majoring in child development, because I enjoy being around young children and playing with them.
