Seattle, WA 98122 April 10th, 2014 To Whom It May Concern: I am excited and honored to write a letter of promise for Justin Zagorski and I will be discussing my experience with him as both a coworker and colleague. I have worked with Justin for the past two years as graduate assistants with Seattle University Housing and Residence Life. Reflecting on our time together I have had many opportunities to collaborate and work in a team dynamic with Justin. Justin is a strong listener, has a critical mind and is always ready to take on something new. He is passionate, reflective, and always willing to learn. I am very excited to see how Justin contributes to both the student affairs field and his future institutions. One of things I appreciate most about Justins professional ethic is his willingness to be involved. He supports students in a variety of ways, but above all he is engaged. He attends and supports student programming and initiatives. This is a showcase of his care, passion and dedication to working with students. Justin, as an Assistant Resident Director, has mentored, supervised and advised students with humble and balanced approach to guiding their learning. He is a resource for students and utilizes both in person and online platforms to engage in critical conversations with others. He is dedicated to pursuing social justice and working to empower students. I am inspired by his motivation and passion for creating work and learning environments that foster diversity and inclusion. He is always pushing himself to learn more and increase his competencies with varieties of social identities. I have worked with Justin as a co-facilitator for the Intergroup Dialogue Program at Seattle University. I learned that he is a very intentional and reflective facilitator who tracks group dynamics. He knows when to push conversation and how to craft unique learning environments. His intentionality further showcases his desire to create equity and integrate anti-oppression work into all aspects of his professionalism. I am filled with gratitude for the lessons he has taught me and the way he worked with me these last two years. Justin has a unique ability to listen, synthesis and offer clear critical ideas that push organizations and peers forward into better and stronger practices. Justin is such an avid and willing learner and I know that will be an asset to his future work. He will have a positive impact wherever this field takes him. It has been a pleasure to work closely with Justin and I am so excited to see where his professional journey takes him.
