Written Assignment In William Byrd dairy we can see that he had great expectations of being of noble worth. Because of his great satiation to be part of the aristocratic English, he was a very religious man. In practically every excerpt he wrote of God, reading the Bible or his religious dancing for God just li e the purtians. !he different is that Bryd describes how he abusively has been to his slaves. It is Because he views slaves as sub"human, he views their actions as unchristian" li e and animalistic. !he purtians would try to reform the slaves to christianity and some try to love relationship with the inferior people as they called them. !he purtians was taught that God was all"powerful and completely sovereign. #uman beings were depraved sinners. God had chosen a few people, $the elect,$ for salvation. !he rest of humanity was condemned to eternal damnation. But no one really new if he or she was saved or damned% &uritans lived in a constant state of spiritual anxiety, searching for signs of God's favor or anger. But it was not only individual salvation that mattered% the spiritual health and welfare of the community as a whole was paramount as well, for it was the community that honored and ept the covenant. !he integrity of the community demanded religious conformity.
