NOAH on Trial By: Miriam Orr Where can we find the true story of Noah?

Perhaps not in the nearby theatre. I suppose that in and of itself is an argument for another day and another time. Im not here to debate the biblical accuracy of the new NOAH movie. I went to see NOAH with my family last weekend. Being familiar with the Old Testament, you could say my family and I were armed with the NKJV, as if the movie was on trial. In all reality and honesty, we had opened a case, and put NOAH on trial. I will admit, I held Hollywood to Biblical expectations I knew they would never meet. I had a thought, though, after I went home and felt horrible about the movie. The thought was simple, yet mind-boggling: This is what people actually believe. It may be that some of those involved in NOAH were blatantly trying to discredit the Bible through the film. I find this unlikely, though, because of the disclaimer at the beginning of the movie which states that, "The film is inspired by the story of Noah. While artistic license has been taken, we believe that this film is true to the essence, values, and integrity of a story that is a cornerstone of faith for millions of people worldwide. The Biblical story of Noah can be found in the book of Genesis." What does this disclaimer say? Basically the film is true to the essence, values, and integrity of a story that is a cornerstone Is this convicting for anyone other than me? From this disclaimer, these people are telling us that this is truly what they believed happenedthat it wasnt on purpose they filled this story with what Christians noticed as worldly concepts. These people truly believe evolution, that Noah and his family were not the only ones on the ark, and that Nephalim (fallen angels) are allowed back into heaven. While to us these concepts are absurd, we must realize that people actually believe this and that it is the foundation for their belief system. Theyre believing falsities. So, whats our job, Crown? Is it to put these people on trial for something they honestly believe with the entire hearts? No. Its our job to live like Jesus did. We are Called to serve. Prepared to Lead. This means telling the truth the people. Its our job to be ambassadors and defend the truth. We are not called to judge others. Were not called to be the judge, or the prosecutor, or the jury, or even the witnesses.

We are simply called to defend God and His Word. Isnt that the reason were at Crown?
