Orlando Science Center Celebrates the Final Weekend of Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination
Saturday, April 6 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
WHAT: Orlando Science Center will host six R2-D2 units represented by the R2 Builders Club plus costumed members of the 501st Legion, Rebel Legion and the Mandalorian Mercs to celebrate the final weekend of the most exciting exhibit in Orlando Science Centers history, Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination. Costumed characters and R2-D2 units: Saturday, April 6 | 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Exhibits last day: Sunday, April 7 Orlando Science Center | 777 E. Princeton St. | Orlando, FL 32803 This is your last opportunity to view the exhibit before it travels to a science center far, far away. The exhibits last day is Sunday, April 7. The 501st Legion, Rebel Legion and Mandalorian Mercs are international fan-based organizations dedicated to the construction and wearing of screen-accurate replica costumes of characters from the Star Wars universe. The R2 Builders Club is an international online community that serves as a forum for exchanging information relating to building the robots of the Star Wars films, most notably R2-D2. STAR WARS: WHERE SCIENCE MEETS IMAGINATION: Developed by the Museum of Science, Boston in collaboration with Lucasfilm Ltd. and presented by Bose Corporation, the exhibit explores the fantasy technologies depicted in the Star Wars films, the science behind them and the current research that could lead to real-life versions of these technologies. The exhibit includes costumes, props and models from the films; extensive video interviews with filmmakers, scientists and engineers; and two large Engineering Design Labs where visitors can build and test their own speeders and robots. Admission to Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination is $27 for adults and $20 for youth (ages 3-11). Tickets include access all four floors of exhibits, unlimited educational films, one Hollywood feature film and live presentations.
