Houston Baptist University School of Science and Mathematics, Houston, TX 02/2013-12/2013 Undergraduate Tutor Worked with students one on one to increase understanding of difficult math concepts. Gathered data about to analyze student use of tutoring center with goal of improving student turnout.

Breakthrough Collaborative, Houston, TX 06/01/2013Teaching Fellow Collaborated with students, parents, faculty, and administration to maximize student performance. Regular phone calls, conferences, and home visits to hold students accountable. th While teaching 9 grade geometry, I utilized active participation and high engagement learning activities to spark students interest in the mathematics curriculum. Taught students how to use logical reasoning to prove statements in a two-column geometric proof. On average, students improved 30 percent from pre to post tests. Worked with a team of four teachers to prepare rising ninth grade students for rigorous tier one high schools by holding them accountable and fostering leadership development.

As a member of the Olympics Committee, I was responsible for organizing events, creating a schedule, and increasing student cohesiveness. Monitored student arrival and departure to ensure a safe and effective transportation system. Taught a speech and debate elective course where I taught students best practices of public speaking and helped them draft and deliver speeches. Coached girls volleyball, boys flag football, and co-ed soccer for the summer.
