Lesson Plan
Grade- 4th grade Skill level of class- intermediate Length of class- 30 minutes PE Standards coveredStandard 2- Applies movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills. Standard 4- Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness Learner Objectives: Psychomotor- TSW demonstrate how to change directions as indicated in the terms dodge, flee, and chase as defined below move through general space while avoiding collisions respect and apply the boundaries of the game by following the rules and regulations covered and staying within the defined space Learn and understand the following terms: *Dodge- Avoid someone or something by a sudden quick movement *Flee- To run away from a place or situation *Chase- Pursue in order to catch or catch up with Cognitive- TSW recall or list the proper steps used when chasing, fleeing and dodging. Location- Outdoors or gym Materials Needed- cones to identify playing area (optional) Safety Considerations: Make sure that the gym floor is free of any obstructions and that the floor isnt wet or slippery. Space the groups of students far apart so that they do not run into one another. Inform students that they are to gently tag one another. Introductory Actions (Teacher Q &A) - How many of you like to play tag? What is your favorite thing about tag? What skills are important when playing tag? (Take responses and tell students how were going to play a new kind of tag)

Teacher Provides Information Divide the class into groups of four. (count off by fours) Three students will form a triangle with their arms. The fourth person is known as the chaser. The group will decide who the chaser has to try and tag out of the 3 students. (Q & A) Once this has been decided, the chaser will try to tag that student while the other 2 try to protect him/her. The group can move in any way to protect the student. Once the student has been tagged by the chaser, he/she becomes the new chaser. Modeling- Teacher modeling (teacher pairs the students up and demonstrates how to conduct the activity) Check for UnderstandingThe teacher observes the students, followed by questions asking if the students understand how to participate. ClosureWhistle (stop activity where you are) Return to designated area in gym Ask students What was hard about this activity? What did you like/dislike about this activity? What skills did we use during this activity? The teacher then repeats what was learned in this activity and gives an overview of the lesson. Activity 2: Learner Objectives: Psychomotor- The student will demonstrate their ability to multiply numbers while also practicing their agility and chasing skills. Cognitive- The student will be able to interpret orally the multiplication numbers given to them in order to free their classmate. Objectives of the lesson- Allow the children to practice multiplication tables while also exercising their ability to chase one another and use agility. Teacher Provides Information The teacher picks 2 children to be the taggers. The taggers chase the other students and try to tag them. Once a student is tagged they must take a knee and hold up fingers on both hands. In order for the student to be freed, another student must multiply the two numbers shown with their hands.

Note- Do not allow students who are helping others be freed to get tagged. Check for Understanding- The teacher observes the students, followed by questions asking if the students understand how to participate. Ending Activity- Have students run quickly in general space; changing directions each time they hear the signal. When they hear 2 whistle blows together, they are to stop using balanced stops. Closure-

Whistle (stop activity where you are) Teacher asks students to return to designated area in gym Ask students What was hard about this activity? What did you like/dislike about this activity? What skills did we use during this activity? Did you travel in different directions? Can you move in different directions? (Have them demonstrate clockwise, counterclockwise, etc.) The teacher then repeats what was learned in this activity and gives an overview of the lesson, making sure that the students understand the terms that were taught.
