SCHOOL COUNSELING EXPERIENCE_________________________________________________ School Counseling Internship North Middle School, Everett School District August 2013- June 2014 Provided academic, career and personal/social counseling services to individuals, groups and families in culturally sensitive manner. Collaborated with teachers and administration to intervene on behalf of students with reference to attendance, academic performance and behavior problems. Mediated conflict between peer groups, teachers and students, as well as between students and their parents / guardians. Advocated for students and their families to reduce and/or eliminate barriers. Facilitated counseling groups such as: girls group, boys group and a group for students that are on the autism spectrum. Engaged in advocacy work: secured funding, developed lesson plans and organized a homework club for multicultural families from January - June (students, parents, tutors and interpreters). Introduced and cemented the Natural Leaders program for multi-lingual families. Participated in weekly team meetings. Maintained regular contact with parents/guardians about students progress. Delivered guidance curriculum on relational aggression (6th grade), harassment, intimidation and bullying (7th grade) as well as presenting material about career exploration (6th, 7th and 8th grades). Met with College Bound scholarship winners to discuss obstacles, opportunities and dreams. Counseled students in crisis. Participated in the registration process at every level (8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grades) by presenting curriculum in the classrooms and in the computer laboratories.

Grant Awards and Scholarships Principal Investigator, funded by BECU, built an Outdoor Edible Community Garden at North Middle School, $2500, 2014. Principal Investigator, funded by Everett Public Schools Foundation and the North Middle School Parent Teacher Association, established the English Language Learner homework club at North Middle School, $1500, 2013. Principal Investigator, funded by Northshore Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC), established anti-bullying and inclusion curriculum at Westhill Elementary, $1000, 2011. Raised over $23,000 for college scholarships that were awarded to at-risk students at Rainier Beach High School, 2010-2014. Volunteer Work Rainier Beach High School, Seattle School District March 2010 Present Volunteered with a mentor program through Rainier Beach Dollars for Scholars, a division of Scholarship America. Westhill Elementary, Northshore School District September 2005 June 2013 In 2010, I received the Golden Acorn Award for volunteerism at Westhill Elementary. With over 600 hours of volunteerism, I organized the social and community services at Westhill Elementary for nine years. Coordinated the free and reduced breakfast program. Implemented a supplemental food program for families in need. Recruited educated bilingual professionals to donate their time and tutor English Language Learners in math.
