9/11 Lesson Plan:


Title: 9/11 and the War on Terror Subject: U.S. History Grade level: 9-12 CCGPS standard: SSUSH25- The student will describe changes in national politics since 1968 g. Analyze the response of President George W. Bush to the attacks of September 11, 2001, on the United States, the war against terrorism, and the subsequent American interventions in Afghanistan and Iraq Objectives: Students will create a script and digital story describing what happened on 9/11 and the subsequent war on terror. Materials Needed: Software to create digital story such as Windows Movie Maker Resource Kit with audio, video, images, and information provided by teacher Reference list provided by teacher Lesson Instructions: 1. Students will work in groups of two or three to research 9/11, the fallout, and the war on terror. 2. Students will determine which topic their groups will focus their project on. 3. Students in each group will divide work by assigning roles for each member, such as script writer, producer, director, or copyeditor. 4. Students will write a script and create a storyboard for their groups digital stories. 5. Students will gather audio and visual elements and arrange in video editing software. 6. Students will record script for their groups digital movie. 7. Students will preview their final product. The final product should be between 2.5 and 3 minutes long. 8. Students will share their project with another group for peer evaluations. 9. Students will share their project with the entire class on the class website. 10. Students will watch their peers videos and provide meaningful feedback and comments.

Assessment: Students will be evaluated based on the accuracy, clarity, and organization of their work. They will also be graded on the feedback they provide to other groups.
