THREE PARAGRAPH ESSAY EXAMPLE

From the beginning of Romeo and Juliets relationship, the couples fate is doomed. After having heard the prologue of the play, the Elizabethans would have believed that the young couple had no control over their own destiny. However, we are born with free will and intellect where our actions determine our fate. Therefore, in Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet, it was their actions that led Romeo and Juliet to a tragic end and not fate. When the story begins, it is well known to all of the characters within the play that the Capulets and Montagues were long standing enemies. However, when Romeo and Juliet met, knowing that they were supposed to hate one another, they made the decision to get married the next day. The decision to marry is a life changing decision, one that should be made over time and carefully considered. Furthermore, knowing that their families would not approve, their decision was one that was impulsive and would most likely end up badly. In addition, both characters made very bad decisions that caused their deaths at the end of the play. First, Romeos killing Tybalt is what caused his exile and subsequent complications thereafter. Second, instead of scheming, Juliet could have confessed her actions and made her way to see Romeo, instead of continuing the charade. Unfortunately, instead of being honest and exposing their lies, they brought about their own deaths. In conclusion, fate is not responsible for the deaths of the young lovers at the end of the play. Because of their bad decisions, Romeo and Juliet are responsible for their own actions and subsequent consequences. Shakespeare is obviously commenting on the beliefs of the day. It is not fate who chooses our destiny; it is we who, by our actions, decide what is to come.
