COURSE
DESCRIPTION

This
course
introduces
students
to
view
camera
techniques
and
aesthetic
concerns
in

order
to
foster
the
development
of
a
creative
approach
to
visual
problem
solving.

View

camera
movements,
4x5
film
developing
and
printing,
and
specific
scenarios
that

require
the
use
of
large
formats,
will
be
covered.
Students
will
be
required
to
keep
a

journal
to
document
ideas.

Students
will
complete
a
series
of
assignments
designed
to

develop
both
their
technical
skills
and
aesthetic
awareness
culminating
in
a
final

portfolio
of
12
–
16
matted
prints.

critique
format
and
attendance
for
these
critiques
is
mandatory.

Late
assignments
will

be
marked
down
one
letter
grade
for
each
class
they
are
late.

Submitting
work
without

participating
in
critique
will
result
in
a
one‐letter
grade
drop.

Not
attending
critique
and

not
submitting
work
will
result
in
a
two‐letter
grade
drop.

If
you
have
a
conflict
with
a

scheduled
critique
date
it
is
your
responsibility
to
make
arrangements
with
me
to

present
your
work
to
the
class
at
another
time.

If

miss
a
class
it

your

responsibility
to
contact
