Main Body:
The teacher will tell the students she has a song stuck in her head.
The teacher asks the students to keep a beat with her and keep a list of words that stand out.
The teacher will sing all of Chatter with the Angels.
The teacher will ask the students what words they noticed:
o If/ when the word chatter comes up, the teacher asks the students if anyone can
explain what that word means. If "chatter" does not come up sing the song again and the
word will pop up 4 times. If they do mention it, sing the song again and ask how many
times the "chatter" is sung.
o The teacher will ask the students to demonstrate chatter with their neighbors in the
circle.
The teacher will tell the students they need to learn the song so keep a beat and when she
points to herself it is her turn to sing and if she points to the students it is their turn to sing.
The teacher will divide Chatter with the Angels into 4 phrases. The teacher will sing a phrase
pointing to herself, then point to the students and they will echo.
The teacher will repeat previous step with second, then third, then finally the last phrase.
The teacher will sing phrases 1 and 2 together telling the students that to listen longer because
she will try to trick them. The students will echo the two phrases
The teacher will repeat the last step with phrases 3 and 4.
The teacher will tell the students to listen to tap a beat and listen to me for even longer. This
time the teacher will sing the whole song and the students will echo.
If the students are having trouble echoing any section, the teacher will repeat that particular
and the students will echo.
