To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to recommend Daphnie Peterson as a K-12 Special
Educator. I have known Daphnie since August 2011, when I was
assigned to be her Mentor during the following three years of teacher
education and apprenticeship at the Center of Urban Education,
University of Northern Colorado at Lowry Campus. In this capacity, I
observed and evaluated her work with students every six weeks during
each academic term. Daphnie has had experience with a wide range of
ages from the elementary grades through high school. Daphnie
consistently demonstrated a professional and passionate effort in every
placement. She has successfully worked with students with a variety of
needs including those with Autism, emotional/behavioral concerns,
cognitive/physical impairments, learning disabilities and
developmental delays. She has worked in both self-contained settings
and resource room settings, as well as given support to students in the
general education classroom.

Daphnie is accomplished in developmental reading, math and written
language curriculum and has successfully implemented behavior plans
and classroom management skills. She is willing to devote time outside
the school day toward the development of lesson plans and materials. A
significant strength of Daphnies is the sense of playfulness and humor
she uses to connect with each student on a personal level. She is willing
to accept the challenge of working and understanding the needs of
oppositional students and demonstrates the intention to effectively
collaborate with parents and other team members.

In summary, Daphnie would truly be an asset for any program to which
she aspires.

Sincerely,
Sandra Anderson, MA, Special Education
Adjunct Faculty Member/Mentor
University of Northern Colorado, Center for Urban Education
