Habitat and Range:

The majority of the population of arctic wolves are located in alaska. The arctic wolves can
stand on the icy plains and keep their balance by shifting their weight on their paws. They not
only don't mind the weather, they tend to sleep on the snow itself.

Diet:
The diet of the arctic wolf is mostly musk oxen, and arctic hares. They also eat prairie
caribou. They tend to eat lemming as well as nesting birds. their hunting grounds consist
of north arctic nere alaska.

Special Behavior:
They tend to stay in packs of five. While the mother is away to find food for the young, the males
of the pack tend to the young. They use body language to relay rules to the pack.In full sprint
they can travle five miles in one hour.

Breeding:
mating season can last from january to april. usually the alpha male calls the shots but in this
situation the alpha female tells the rest of the pack when to rest when to move and where to
hunt. When close to mating season the alpha female becomes aggressive toward the other
females of the pack.

Human Impact:
The snow wolf has been on and off the endangered twice now. We have destroyed over 40% of
their hunting and breeding grounds. Some shelters have been built to protect and preserve the
snow wolves from poachers.
