    Workforce Trends
    Employment of firefighters is expected to grow 18 to 26 percent for all occupations through
    2014. Those who have completed some firefighter education at a community college and have an
    EMT certification will have an additional advantage.
    This is a nontraditional occupation for women. In 2007, 5.3 percent of the people employed in
    this occupation were women.
