Speaker Reection: Dr.

Wood
List 1 surprising fact mentioned
-RtI is for all learners and for all educators. RtI supports students' needs by
engaging educators in: high quality instructional practice, continuous review of
student progress, and collaboration.
List 2 "take aways" from the presentation
-I loved how she discussed the importance of differentiation for gifted students. I
loved how Dr. Wood provided us with resources and ideas to incorporate into our
future classroom to help ALL of our students to succeed. Dr. Wood also stressed that
successful differentiation takes time, effort, practice, patience, and creativity.
-Another take away would be to make sure students have choices. This helps to keep
students engaged in what they are doing and learning. The cool thing about this is
that there are unlimited options for giving students choices! There are so many
resources available to help teachers. Dr. Wood gave us a Tic Tac Toe Choice Board as
one example.
What is it that you will strive to do in your planning that will ensure that you are
addressing the needs of ALL learners?
-I think it is so important in order to be an effective teacher, to know your
students. Teachers need to know what students like, what they are interested in,
what they don't like, and how they learn. Getting to know my students is something
I want to make sure I do rst thing! I also think a major key in being successful
with differentiation in my future classroom is wonderful classroom management.
