1. (All Departments) Pick facilitators for PLCs focus on RtI, AYP strategies, data and include looking at student work and an effective reading strategy each month in your learning community.
2. (Language Arts, Mathematics, Science Departments and Parent Involvement) Review goal(s) and data and complete evaluation form with department.
3. (All Departments) List your departments monthly reading strategy focus. You can just focus on the same reading strategy all year if you choose. Review school improvement goals for reading look at current strategies and effective strategies from CRISS, Marzano, etc. you can use to help focus on content reading (detailing main idea & purpose, words in context, comparison, cause & effect, research & reference). Discuss what your department will do to support reading each month. ESE will also need to include mathematic strategies to support new mathematics standards.
4. (All Departments) List at least two strategies you will use to support Level 1 and Level 2 students in your department and classroom. ESE you will need some strong strategies to move and support your level 1 and level 2 kids. Each department should include a goal in your PGP/PDP to support AYP. (Keep in mind Marzano strategies, Twelve Words, CRISS, etc.)
5. (All Departments) Review the Level 1 and Level 2 lists for your grade level. Make sure you know these kids. Keep focused on them all year.
6. (Language Arts (Reading and Writing), Mathematics and Science Departments) Revise your school improvement goal. The focus should be on AYP subgroups and moving students out of Level 1 and Level 2 zones and keeping 3s, 4s and 5s growing.
