SUSPECT: Cortez Hinton, M, B, 6-2, 210, 19 years old
Desert Hot Springs Resident
CHARGES: Ca vehicle code-2800.2(a)

STATUS: In Custody, RCJ-Banning

NARRATIVE

On Wednesday May 14, 2014, at about 1646 hours, Officers responded to the 13900 block of
Cuyamaca Drive, for calls of shots fired. Officer arrived and found a gunshot victim with a non-
life threatening wound. The victim was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center and is
being treated. Officers received information a red car was seen leaving the scene of the shooting.
Shortly after, Officers found the red car and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit terminated at the
66300 Block of Desert View Avenue, where Cortez Hinton was arrest without incident. Officers
searched the car and found weapons.

There was also a separate shooting in the 66300 Block of Desert View Avenue at 1545 hours and
it is unknown if they are related. No one was hit by gunfire.
