Connect flow measuring system meters and sensors according to
manufacturer's written instructions.
Connections of pump controllers to building fire alarm system. Refer to
Division 16, Section ''Fire Alarm" for Electrical Wiring and Connections.
Ensure that factory connections of controllers to pumps are correct.
Ground equipment
Tighten electrical connectors and terminals according to manufacturer's
published torque tightening values. If manufacturer's torque values are not
indicated, use those specified in UL 486A and UL 486B.
3.6 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

Manufacturer's Field Services: Engage a factory authorized service
representative to inspect field assembled components and equipment
installation, including fire pump and pressure maintenance pump units,
piping, and electrical connections. Report results in writing.
Leak Test: After installation, charge system and test for leaks. Repair leaks
and retest until no leaks exist.
Check suction line connections for tightoess so no air gets into pump.
Operational Test: After electrical circuitry has been energized, start units to
confirm proper motor rotation and unit operation. Remove malfimctioniog units,
replace with new units, and retest.
Test and adjust controls and safeties. Replace damaged and malfunctioning
controls and equipment.
Final Checks Before Start-up: Perform the following preventive
maintenance operations and checks:
Lubricate oil-lubrication type bearings.
Remove grease-lubrication type bearing covers, flush bearing with kerosene,
and clean thoroughly. Fill with new lubricant according to manufacturer's
written instructions.
3 .6.3 Starting Procedure for Pumps: Is as follows:
- Install coolant in cooling system. Fill closed loop cooling system with
potable water and add rust inhibitor.
