ABORTION 2

Why is abortion illegal? What is so wrong with Abortion?
Abortion has many positive factors on why it would be good for someone to get an
Abortion but it also has many negative views as well. To start off there is an abortion
Law, which pertains to provision of Abortion. Abortion is a very controversial subject to
many societies through history, mainly because of the moral, ethical, and political power
issues that surround it. When coming to a conversation about Abortion I find many
positive factors on how getting an Abortion is a good thing for an on coming mother. So
why is Abortion such a bad thing? Well with recent research we can all see the
advantages and disadvantages of getting an Abortion.
In recent studies it is shown why Abortion is Evil and not a Pro Choice. Ten
main reasons on why it is such a bad thing would be:
1. Abortion offends God
2. The unnoticed war
3. Life starts at the moment of conception
4. Mankind must protect life whenever possible
5. Abortion is unsafe
6. A biogenetic tower of babel
7. Breaking the abortion cycle
8. Roe v. wade; 40 years of lies
9. Addressing an abortionist
10. The slippery slope
(TFP Student Action).
ABORTION 3

Many people believe in these reasons and favor pro-Abortion. People see abortion as a
bad thing because of religion or history of the past. No one seems to understand how
abortion can benefit many people. If the woman does not see herself fit of becoming a
mother or want to take on the responsibility of being a mother should she have the choice
of keeping or aborting the child? Also if she does not want to go through with the
pregnancy isnt it her right to choose if she gets to keep it or not? Recent studies have
shown us that abortion can be a good thing when dealing with these kinds of issues,
including health issues. When having some circumstances in your health it is right to
have an abortion, you need to protect yourself and protect you little human inside of you,
going back to religious reasons if you are a child of God you do not want to see ones
suffer when there is a cure for it, having a health condition can cause many harm issues to
the mother and the child, the child can be born with different complexities.
Abortion is seen as someone killing a potential person, which in all reality is
considered murder. For an abortion to be considered murder we have to look and see if
the fetus is even considered a person. Some argue that they are human being like Don
Marquis he debates that a fetus is a human being because being a human being means
that you have a moral status and in order to have a moral status you have to have a future
which in the case of a fetus it does have potential to have a future. But there are some that
disagree with the fetus being a human being Peter McInerney argues that a fetus does not
have a moral status because it could potentially have a future. It does not have a set future
like an adult does so therefore it does not have a moral status making it not be a human
being. Elizabeth Harman argued that fetuses have different moral statuses for example a
fetus with an abnormality has a different moral status than a fetus with no complications.
ABORTION 4
If a fetus does not have a set future then it does not have a moral status but if when you
are going to abort the fetus it did it have moral status because you are terminating it
without really knowing if it has moral status then it is like you are committing murder
because you are terminating a persons life since it was considered a person because it had
a moral status.
When a woman becomes pregnant during the first eight week it is called embryo
and then from eight to 40 weeks it is called a fetus according to Soroush Debbagh from
the Iranian institute of philosophy. If we are looking at an embryo a fetus and a newborn
and having it being considered a human we have to look at the stages and their
dependability in being able to live on their own. Debbagh argued what the difference was
between a fetus and a newborn and if it would be the same if you aborted a fetus and
killed a newborn. She argued that they are the same thing since their state of mind hasnt
changed as much as when it was inside the womb and is now outside of the womb being
considered a newborn. They argue that their state of mind is the same because they are
not exactly conscious of their existence or their being until the first month of birth but she
found that there is significant difference that sets them aside. When it is a fetus it is
dependent on the mother or technically part of the mothers body. The fetus is not able to
breath or gets the nutrition it needs on its own. When the fetus is actually born they are
able to sustain life on its own and are able to breath and eat on their own so therefore
since they are already breathing on their own and eating on their own they are held higher
in the social views since it is already born and viewed as a human being. But when the
fetus is inside the womb it is dependent on the mother and is not able to sustain life on its
own which some may view this as not being a human being but rather just a part of the

woman who is carrying the fetus. Therefore many argue that if the woman does not want
to keep the baby she should have the choice to abort the fetus.
If a woman gets pregnant without wanting to becoming pregnant she should have
the option to abort or to keep the fetus. First of all the fetus at the time of the pregnancy is
technically part of the womans body so the woman should be able to have the option to
abort it if she wants. When a woman gets pregnant there will be a lot of changes that
happen to her body and if she doesnt want to have the baby in the first place why should
she have to sacrifice her body for something she doesnt want. D Isaac from the
University of Sydney states that a woman has to change her lifestyle habits for example if
she smokes or drinks it is frowned upon to do so while pregnant. He also talks about the
way the law see a woman who kills her fetus by doing to much cocaine or binge drinking
can get sentenced to jail for up to 12 years but an abortion be seen as ok. Even though in
reality these are the same because you are technically doing the same thing, which is
killing your fetus. Marry Warren from the university of Indiana viewed the fetus as a
parasite or tumor how it laches and prey on to the mother. The woman has to endure a lot
of changes to her body when pregnant. The child usually takes up most of the nutrition
from the mother. Even though for every woman they have different symptoms and
changes happen to their body mostly all woman will admit that they have to practically
sacrifice their body for their unborn child. I believe that a womans rights during
pregnancy should be taken more into consideration than that of the fetus even though a
fetus has the possibility of having their own decisions and of becoming a person it is still
at the time being the mothers body and she should have the right on what to do with her
body. Some view it as the mother making a decision for another human being but the
ABORTION 6
fetus is relying on the mother at the time and is technically a part of her so the mother
should do as she pleases with her body.
Although Abortion is seen as murder, against religion and many other wrong
things A on coming mother should make her own decisions and do what she desires, the
out come of having an abortion is a better chance in circumstances than others. As a true,
real loving mother a person of God you would not want to kill what is part of you so
when having that doubt in mind and not wanting your child from the begging should be
your right and you should do what you want. Having an Abortion is for the better, how
could you take care of something so precious loving and meaningful properly when your
child is born and you have already had doubts of not wanting it. The chances of the child
suffering is higher, the mother will always have a regret and more than likely treat the
child with some towards of anger built in the inside. So why not prevent that and do the
right thing by taking care of yourself and the love of your little human inside you nothing
is really wrong with that.
