The purpose of this project is to improve our understanding of the time of the Great Depression
and to add our own twist of a modern day feel by creating a video that explains so. We were assigned
into different groups that described different parts of The Great Depression. In this case weve received
thetopicFamilies.Uponcreatingthisvideoweveappliedaflurryof21stcenturyskills.
The first set of 21st century skills that Ive used into this video is Life and Career skills I had the
expertise in altering to different roles, jobs responsibilities, schedules and contexts and work effectively
in a climate of vagueness and developing priorities by appointing opportunities to my group members to
achieve my goal into completing the project. I was able to work with others towards a shared goal,
inspiring others and their strengths, while demonstrating virtues and virtuous behavior by taking the lead
role and planning out the entire project from start to finish from creating the script to the final edits to the
video,butofcourseaddingmygroupmembersinsightaboutwhatshouldbedone.
I have communicated effectively with others in a respectable way by asking other people to help
out in our video by filming us, acting in the video as well as properly thanking everyone for helping out.
I had the capability to set and manage goals and time, and work independently by pre planning and
communicating with my other team members to complete the video in a timely manner.I was able to
demonstrate attributes of high quality work, including collaborating and cooperating effectively and
respectfullywithmyownteam,andbeingaccountableforresultssuchasthefinishingproject.
Iwasabletouseflexibilitywhennegotiatingandbalancingdiverseviewsandbeliefstoreach
workablesolutions.InthiscaseIwasputintoagroupwhereweallhaddifferentworkingschedulesand
activitiesthatwehadtodo.Iverearrangedmyscheduleaccordingtoeveryoneelse'sschedulealotto
fulfillmyworkanddutiesastheleaderofthegroup.Thishelpeduscreateefficiency.Ihavealso
achievedthecapacitytobeaselfdirectedlearnergoingbeyondbasicmasteryofskillssuchasvideo
editingand/orcurriculumtoexpandlearningbyaskingmyfriendsfromtheSLAMacademyteachersfor
simplebasiceditingtips.
Iwasabletoaccessandevaluateinformationeffectivelyanduseandmanagethatinformation
purposefullyfortheissueorproblemathand.Itshowsmyawarenessandapplicationofknowledgeon
theethical/legalissuessurroundingtheuseofinformation.Iwasabletousedigitaltechnologiesto
manage,integrate,evaluateandcreatethevideo,andtoapplytechnologyeffectively,usingitasatoolto
research,organize,evaluateandcommunicatetootherssuchasthecompletedvideo.
SomethingsthatIcouldimproveonismyvideoeditingskills.Itmaynotbemystrongpoint,
butitwasoneofmybetterworksthatIvecreatedinthepast.Ididntknowhowtogetridofthe
backgroundnoisebutallinallitwasquitesuccessful.WhatIdidthebestonwasthevideoandthe
contentofitbecauseitwasthoroughlyresearchedforitshistoricalaccuracyandapplyingthethingsthat
wevelearnedintoagreatvideo.BasedontheinformationandskillsthatI'veachievedisthatitsfun
workingingroupsbutatthesametimeapaindependingonwhoyourewith.
