How will you introduce this activity to the children?
The activity will be introduced during circle time.
With the KWHL chart at the beginning of the week.
I will ask the children what they know about Cinco de Mayo?
What they would like to know?
How will we learn about it?
I will talk to the children about the location we are going to and what we will be doing.
Children will get to learn about what weve been reading and see things we have created.
As we are in the bus we will sing Cinco de Mayo songs to keep the children engaged on the way to
the field trip we have:
CINCO DE MAYO WAS THE TIME
Tune: Yankee Doodle
Cinco de Mayo was the time
the battle we won.
Now we honor those brave men,
Each and every one.
Lite the lanterns in the square.
Watch the fireworks, late.
Sing and dance the whole night through.
Its time to celebrate!

Talk about the history.

During lunch time talk about the different foods.

Volunteers
For parent volunteers it is important that we have a small meeting two weeks before the event.
We will talk about the safety of the child.
What to do in case of an emergency.
What children will be assigned to them.
The volunteers will get a copy of the childs allergies.
Emergency phone numbers.

Things that can go wrong during the Field trip.
A child gets separated from the group.
To prevent this from happening children will have name tags as well as bracelets that will
have the teachers number school name.
A child can have an allergic reaction to the food.
To prevent this from happening the childs parents or caregivers will give the teacher a form
of any allergic reactions.
A child might have forgotten the money for lunch time and have no food.
To prevent this from happening as a teacher I will ask parents to send me money in advance
for the child and I will carry it for when lunch time arrives.

Learning Objectives:
The child will be able to compare and contrast different foods.
The child will be able to explain the meaning of Cinco de Mayo.

culture.
As the lead teacher I will have:
