mental illnesses if not treated. Anyone can be

PURPOSE:


The purpose is to make victims aware that there
is help! This brochure provides information on
organizations and the help lines, so the victim
can be on the path to recovery. Victims will gain
a support system that is needed when
encountering a traumatic experience.
Domestic violence is not only physical but can
also be mental and sexual to, and all these type
of abuse hurt. Hurtful words can ruin ones self
esteem compared to hit in the face that could
lead to death

THREE TYPES OF ABUSE:
SEXUAL ABUSE: Includes Rape, sexual assault,
and sexual molestation
MENTAL ABUSE: Includes Confinement,
isolation, verbal assault, humiliation,
intimidation, infantilization, or any other
treatment which may diminish the sense of
identity, dignity, and self-

PHYSICAL ABUSE: happens when another
person inflicts bodily injury.


Abuse can come in all shapes and forms, and
can be prevented. Contacting the authorities
should be the first thing to do. The problem is
that it is often overlooked and not looked at as
a serious crime.





HOW CAN IT BE PREVENTED?
This type of abuse can be prevented when
looked at as a no tolerance crime. It is up to the
community to report any signs of abuse such as
bruising on ones body or maybe just hearing a
lot of yelling that could be signs of mental
abuse. Domestic violence can be prevented
when following these guidelines and seeking
the appropriate help.
