Name: Shaun Thomas Unit No: 233 SWOT nal!sis Stren"ths I created a PowerPoint that showed how to take care of a drum kit, explaining what jobs you could do yourself, why it was important to do those jobs and what jobs you need to take your drum kit to a specialist to do for you. I created a PowerPoint that showed drummers how to keep themselves safe and free from injury when playing on a drum kit. I have gone from being a complete beginner and have made substantial progress throughout the course and I am now able to play Rockschool Grade standard pieces. I have learnt a variety of different drum beats and fill patterns, how to read drum notation and perform in time to a backing track. !hen I performed my final piece, I performed very well through the whole duration with only one small mistake at the end. I have presented the written parts of this unit in an orderly manner making it clear and easy to understand. Wea#nesses I am not confident enough yet to do basic maintenance like changing the skins on a drum kit. I needed support from my drum teacher to be create a practice plan and set targets for me to be able to progress. I had made some minor grammar and punctuation mistakes in my written work, because I had not checked over my work properly when I first finished it that I had to go back and correct. O$$ortunities I have been able to learn how to play the drums and learn how to read notation. I have enjoyed being a member of the "#rumed$% percussion group. I have led the "#rumed$% percussion group and supported younger members. Threats I have found juggling all my other subjects difficult and this sometimes got in the way of practising the drums. I do not have a drum kit to practise on at home so the only way I could practise was on the school kit during break and lunch times. It was difficult sometimes to get access to the drum kit because other people also wanted to use the e&uipment in the studio. Conclusion I believe that I have achieved a merit in 'nit ()) because I have shown a broad understanding of the day*to*day maintenance re&uirements of a drum kit and I have also shown my understanding of the health and safety re&uirements and implications whilst playing the drum kit, showing knowledge of potential ha$ards associated with the instrument. !orking with my drum teacher, I have identified my personal aims for development and ambitions related to playing the drum kit, considering my current position and level. I have also created a plan of action to achieve my target aims, identifying specific areas to focus on and understanding where progress can be made. I demonstrated my noticeable development through media clips, showing progress in different aspects. I have also evaluated my achievements and in negotiation with my tutor, I have also made a plan of action for my on*going development as an instrumentalist. ( st +ay (,-
