Media Production and Analysis: General - a summary of syllabus changes


This table summarises the main changes that have occurred in the process of adapting Stage 1 and Stage 2
of this course into Year 11 and Year 12 syllabuses for implementation in 2015 (Year 11) and 2016 (Year 12).
Content changes

Overall
the Rationale was deleted and replaced with an updated version as appears in the ATAR
units
Course unit descriptions updated
Resources reviewed
Vocational Education and Training information reviewed
changes to content descriptions which have been deleted, combined or rewritten to
clarify the intent of the original concept and focus of the units
Representation of General Capabilities included
Cross curricular priorities from Australian curriculum included
Representation added as a content organiser to create continuity with Australian Arts
curriculum: Media Arts
Suggested contexts updated
some sub content organisers updated (i.e. Media form has been changed to System of
communication) to provide greater clarity of the focus of the content descriptions.
Content changes

Year 11 specific
content descriptions from Stage 1 units A and B have been deleted, combined or
rewritten to clarify the intent of the original concept or provide greater focus for the
context of the unit (i.e. the focus of Unit 2 is Point of view which appears explicitly within
the content)
Content changes

Year 12 specific
while the unit foci from 1C and 1D have been retained e.g. Unit 3 is Entertainment, the
content has been reviewed, rewritten and changed to raise the conceptual demand and
to reflect the pitch and demand of the current stage 2 content.
