Whose Life Is It Anyway?

A Brief Summary

The main character is Ken Harrison.

He is left paralysed following a road traffic accident.

Prior to this he was a very successful sculptor in a stable relationship.

After much thought he decides he cannot live life not being able to do the simple
things in life, which he loves doing i.e., turn the pages of a book or hold a
paintbrush etc.

He therefore enters into a legal battle with medical staff as he fights for the
right to be discharged from hospital, which would ultimately lead to his death.

Dr Hill strongly objects to his request and the two men begin a battle of wits
with the doctor injecting Ken against his wishes based on his diagnosis that Ken
is depressed.

This prompts ken to pursue his request for euthanasia by means of stopping all
medical procedures that are currently assisting him, such as the catheter and the
nursing help he gets with feeding and bathing etc.
He uses humour and sexual innuendo to brighten up his mundane day as each one is
fast becoming the same and he remarks about them just growing the vegetables here.

He befriends John the orderly, as he is the only one who treats him as a normal
human being.

The drama progresses with quarrels and disagreements between Ken and the medical
staff before a judge is brought in to question him and make a decision on his
request.

Thankfully for Ken the judge decides in his favour and he wins the battle however
following this Dr Hill still believes or perhaps hopes that Ken will change his
mind.
