Robotics - Speed Car
Lab Report
SECTI ON I : I NTRODUCTI ON

TITLE: Speed Car

OBJECTIVE:
The whole purpose of this project was to build a car that went as fast as possible
and cover a distance of 50 feet in the shortest amount of time.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED:
- Base Plate
- 2 large gears
- 2 medium gears
- 2 small gears
- 2 side plates
- 2 motors
- 1 controller
- Tape
- 4 medium sized wheels
- Screws
- Something to tighten screws (axles)

PROCEDURE:
1. Put the base plate and the side plates together.

2. Put the gears and wheels in between the side plates and the base plate.

3. Put the motors on the sides with the gears and the motor controller at the top of
the base.

4. Put the wiring together and make sure the gear ratio is good so the speed picks
up. Use the screws to it all together.

SECTI ON I I : DATA

DATA TABLES:

Trial Time
1 (Complete Fail)- it turned towards
the left
2 8.9 Seconds

CALCULATIONS: NONE

RESULTS:
The results of the robot were very successful. The robot was built fairly quickly
and most of the building time was put into specifics. For example, after the first
trial, which was a fail, we fixed the robot and tried to straighten it up which took
up some time. These type of labs would work better if we used a racing-type of
competition, as in we put two cars side by side and race. We would have better
results.

CONCLUSION:
In the end, I believe we got 3rd place with 8.9 seconds. Our robot was actually
pretty decent except it turned by itself which caused it to take up more time. Our
gear ratio was really good but the turning of the robot was screwing us up. This
was probably because we had two different motors and they are not turning at the
same speed. We tried using one motor but the robot kept getting jammed up.
