Plan of Assistance for Improvement

NMC Instructor: Cherrie Lovejoy ED 450 Assessment and Evaluation

Plans of assistance are developed to assist and guide students who need improvement related to the professional
knowledge, skills, and dispositions. The School of Educations seeks to help students become the very best
professional educators possible. Plans of Assistance are designed to help students achieve that goal.

Plans of Assistance:
1. An objective description of the problem.
a. The instructor is concerned with time management, submission of assignments and communication with
instructor

b. The SOE concluded its investigation and after several meetings and discussions between the student and
the instructor, the following course of actions were identified to be the most appropriate to:
time management;
the learning needs of the student;



2. Course of Action(s).
a. The SOE Program:
1. Ms. Cherrie will send weekly assignment reminders.
2. Ms. Cherrie will allow for Jae Hee to check out text materials when needed.
3. Ms. Cherrie will allow for a minimum of one day advanced notice of cancellation or change in
time of meetings.

b. The Student will:
1. Complete a minimum of 45 contact hours and will provide evidence through time sheets.
2. Assignments will be submitted on the agreed upon due dates no later than 9 am.
3. Attend a minimum of one hour group session
4. Complete and turn in on time: time-sheet, portfolio, Common Core Test, Assessment related to
SPED Report, Web Resources part 1 and 2, 1 teachback and key terms.
5. Research and write a five page essay on professionalism, including the components such: time
management, meeting deadlines and professional communications. Use the articles and websites
listed below. Make sure all sources have proper citation and references.


Assignment List:
1) Portfolio: Collect and keep all information for this course in a binder (or e-portfolio) You must include: 1)
all handouts and information provided, 2) all graded assignments, 3) you completed time sheet, etc

2) Common Core: Pick one specific standard from the Common Core and write a 10 multiple choice test to
assess the information. http://www.corestandards.org/

3) Web Resources (part 1): Find up to 20 websites that are related to assessment and write a one paragraph
describing the website and how it relates to assessment. These sites are descriptive and informative about
assessment in general.

4) Web Resources (part 2): Find up to 20 websites that have sample worksheet tests to create a collection of
resources.

5) Key Terms: Go through the books, select 20 terms related to Assessment, then write a few sentences to
explain the meaning of the terms, for example, reliability, validity, standard deviation, statistics, etc.)

6) Teachback: Chapter 9 from Popham, W., (2011). Classroom assessment: What teachers need to know.6h

7) Assessment related to SPED: Write a five page research report on the Woodcock Johnson assessment used
to evaluate achievement. Use the resources listed below.
