Below are student expectations including discipline, curriculum, rules and procedures. It is expected that all students will 1. follow the school rules, procedures, and guidelines stated in the student agenda. Please make yourselves familiar with the school discipline plan. 2. uphold and practice all characteristics of the International Baccalaureate learner profile. We will become inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open- minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced, and reflective students and team members this school year. 3. be prepared for class every day with agenda, required supplies, student work, library or independent reading books, and an awareness of acceptable and expected student behavior.
This year we will integrate our International Baccalaureate Program with our national Common Core Standards. Grading Students are graded on the Clarke County School Districts grading scale: Homework(10%), Formative Assessments (30%), and Summative Assessments (60%). Expect a written current numerical average each four and a half weeks (through either a progress report or a report card). Homework Anticipate homework assignments throughout the year. Students are expected to take responsibility for copying homework assignments in their agendas. No late homework will be accepted! Formative Assessments will consist of quizzes based on assigned readings and grammar, class assignments, and other oral and written spot checks. Summative Assessments will consist of unit tests, performance tasks/ projects, and other classroom quizzes. Performance tasks will not be accepted after the due date! If students are absent, they need to plan accordingly to complete the assignment(s) on time. Late/ Makeup Work: It is the students individual responsibility to see teachers to obtain missing assignments and discuss missing work. Unless in the case of an excused absence, students are not permitted to make up missing work.
Classroom Supplies Please realize that we do not furnish supplies for our students and that they must have their supplies when they enter the classroom. at least two composition notebooks (one for each semester) a three ring binder (2 inch) solely for Language Arts folders with 3 prongs and pockets #2 pencils with erasers blue or black ink pens notebook paper suggested supplies: boxes of tissue, hand sanitizer, pencil box, glue, or colored pencils, colored markers, and highlighters **It is school policy that students do not carry permanent markers (Sharpies). Any permanent markers will be taken and not returned! Novels 7th graders will read a minimum of four novels this year (see below) in Language A.
