Lab Report Science: Elizabeth Goodwin

Introduction:
For my lab report I am collecting surveys from grade 10 and 11 of how long does it take for
them to eat their lunch. I am going to ask the minimum of 10 boys and 10 girls that are Korean,
so I can compare them to 10 Cambodian boys and girls to see my result of who eats their food
faster or slower.
Hypothesis:
I think that Korean students eat faster than the Cambodian students, because the size and
height of their body is a bit bigger and that they consume faster. I also notice that When
Cambodians eat, they tend to have extra left over on their plates than Korean.
Variables:
Independent Variable-Korean eating time
Dependent-The time it takes for Koreans and Cambodians to eat their lunch
Controlled variable: 20 Korean students ( 10 boys and 10 girls) and 20 Cambodian (10 boys and
10 girls)
Materials:
Paper
Pencil
20 Korean students that are boys and girls
20 Cambodian students that are boys and girls

My procedure:
1. Write down 20 Korean and 20 Cambodian students
2. Survey the students in my class first
3. Survey the students in 10A
4. Survey the rest of the Koreans from grade 11 since their isnt enough in my class
to total up t0 20
5. I will put my collected date on extcel
6. Put them in order
7. Make a graph for it
8. Title my graph

Analyzing:
Looking at the graph, you can see that most of the Koreans eat time isnt as long as the
Cambodians, where most of their time is doubled or equal to their time. I think this is the
reason, because most of the Cambodians are not that big their body size are bit smaller than
most average size of students.

Below is a graph to see the difference of time from Cambodians and Koreans

Graph of Cambodian Students:

Conclusion:
As I was collecting datas from grade 10 and 11 on how long it takes for them to eat their lunch,
I got an interesting graph. I guessed that Koreans eat their faster than Cambodians because of
their body size and height. My hypotheses came out to be correct since most of the Koreans
times of eating was longer than the Korean, not only that, but quite bit of the Cambodians time
of eating was twice as long than the Koreans.
My errors:
There were quite a bit of errors I notice as I was doing my lab report. First as I was asking the
students on how long it takes for them to eat their lunch, most of them were struggling to tell
me and it took them a bit of time to tell me. Second I found out that when Cambodians eat,
they usually have extra food left over than the Korean, so this did mess up my chance to get
accurate result on the timing and third, As I was going around and asking, I noticed that when I
survey I asked at least 2 Koreans from grade 11 and the rest was from my grade. I think that I
would have gotten a better answer if I stayed in the range of either 10
th
graders or 11
th
,
because it seems bias to just ask 2 other students from another grade and have 18 from my
grade.

Future report:
Next time I do lab report I will stick with only one grade and ask them. I will also observe them
by timing them, since most of the students took time to tell me how long it takes and that they
also just guessed on how long it takes them.
